aboutus

Welcome to Ribble Valley Medical Team. We are a local non-profit community organisation and volunteer-led.

Our objective is to provide first aid training to the local community and first aid cover at local events, also assistance with missing person search, and also mental health suicidal prevention. We aim to provide a high-quality, reliable, and professional service.

The organisation was set up by a group of dedicated individuals, including Health Care professionals, Emergency Medical Technicians, First Responders, Advanced First Aiders

To ensure all can access our services, our Community Training and Community Event Services will be free of charge (though donations are much appreciated). This will allow us to sustain and develop. We do have to levy a charge for some services, but we aim to make these charges as inexpensive as possible to again encourage the saving of lives and reduce suffering.

We do not charge for our Community Event Services which covers community and charity events within Ribble Valley, as this allows every event to benefit from first aid coverage.

Some types of events that we regularly cover are:

  • Studio / TV Filming Sets

  • Football

  • Bonfire & Fireworks Displays

  • Agricultural Shows

  • Small community events

  • Christmas markets

  • Fairgrounds

  • Open Days

  • Parades

  • Charity Events

  • Emergency Rest Centres

We cover events across Lancashire

A key objective of our organisation is to substantially increase the number of local people with first aid skills.

The European Reference Centre for First Aid Education has highlighted the fact that the United Kingdom has much lower numbers of people with first aid skills than other parts of Europe. In the UK, it is estimated that no more than 10% of the population have first aid skills, whereas in Germany, the figure is 80% and in Norway 95%.

At Ribble Valley Medical Team we are passionate about training people to develop the vital first aid skills they need to help a family member, friend or work colleague. We offer two types of training.

We’re looking for enthusiastic local adults and young volunteers (aged 16 and upwards) with a few hours to spare each month to learn how to save a life.

Our volunteers would be going on duty at local community events, bonfires, Christmas events and many more gatherings to those needing it.

Full training in life-saving techniques is given at weekly unit meetings.

For an informal discussion, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us via email to register your interest

The team is often called upon to locate and support missing persons that have been missing within Ribble Valley

our volunteers who believe that people deserve care and compassion in their time of need. Those needs could be a result of homelessness, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, intoxication, drug abuse, assault or any other issue which has caused personal distress or the potential for physical harm..

We are also now working with Blood Pressure UK and Know Your Numbers Charity by providing free blood pressure checks while we are at events we cover or simply ask us to come in and hold a blood pressure information stall. All our team are trained in taking blood pressure and able to offer advice and if appropriate do a referral to the GP

Hosting a Blood Pressure Station can bring many benefits to those who get a blood pressure check:

reach people who wouldn't usually get a blood pressure check

educate more patients, about their health

Many more benefits this is why we encourage you to know your numbers!.
